*April 7th, 2011* CHS Elective Fair
Welcome! If you're seeing this post then you picked up a flyer from the CHS Elective Fair. I hope you take the time to browse through our pictures in this blog and take some time to learn about Speech & Debate. This is an excellent organization to be a member of for multiple reasons.
1) It helps with stage fright
2) You learn to think on your feet
3) You will learn about current local and global issues
4) You learn to be a good public speaker
5) You meet friends and make memories for a life time
The list can go on. The bottom line is I hope you consider being in Debate next year for the 2011-2012 school year. We have a lot of good things planned and I hope you can be a part of it!
If you're ready to learn how to argue your way through any conversation and sound good (and look good) doing it, then this is where you belong! You can't be afraid of a little hard work and a lot of time and hours. Also, everyone looks good in a black suit! :)
If you have any questions feel free to email me at lindsay.mcgill@channelview.isd.esc4.net or come by my classroom, Room 153 at CHS.
Have a great day,
Ms. Lindsay McGill

*April 1-2nd, 2011* UIL Academic/Speech Districts
WOW!!!!!!! WHAT A WEEKEND! Channelview Speech & Debate team had an amazing UIL Speech & Academics District Tournament this weekend at North Shore High School. Every student I took placed in the top 3 of the event they entered in...that means EVERY MEMBER of CHS Varsity Speech & Debate team is headed to the Regional Tournament on April 15th & 16th at Seven Lakes High School in Katy, TX!
Not only that, but Channelview also took home THREE District Championships! If you see any of these students please congratulate them on a job well done.
It has been a long year of Monday - Thursday practices until 5:30pm and tons and tons of weekends of tournaments ending at midnight, only to start up again at 6:00am the next morning.
But it's not over yet!!!! GO FALCON DEBATE!
